Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the website remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how you use the site. Modern websites also use similar technologies like local storage and session storage.

Cookie Categories

We classify cookies into three categories based on their purpose:

Essential Cookies (Always Active)

These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function. They enable core features like authentication, session management, and language preference. They do not require your consent under the ePrivacy Directive.

Analytics Cookies (With Consent)

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website — which pages are most popular, how users navigate between pages, and whether they encounter errors. This data is aggregated and anonymized. We only set these cookies after you give your explicit consent.

Marketing Cookies (Not Currently Active)

We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. If we introduce ad targeting, retargeting pixels (Meta, TikTok), or affiliate tracking in the future, we will update this policy and seek your renewed consent.

How We Use Cookies

Authentication: Supabase session cookies keep you logged in as you navigate the site. Without these, you would need to sign in on every page load.

Language preference: The NEXT_LOCALE cookie remembers your language choice so the site displays in your preferred locale.

Analytics: Google Analytics 4 cookies help us measure traffic patterns, user engagement, and technical performance. This data is used to improve the Service and fix issues. IP addresses are truncated for EU users (first 3 octets retained).

Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can control cookies in several ways:

Via Our Cookie Banner

When you first visit crucible.fans, a cookie banner appears at the bottom of the screen. You can:

  • "Reject All": Only essential cookies will be set. Analytics and marketing cookies are blocked.
  • "Accept Analytics": Essential + analytics cookies will be set.
  • "Accept All": All cookie categories will be enabled.
  • "Cookie Preferences": Opens a detailed modal where you can toggle each category individually.

Via Your Account Settings

Logged-in users can manage cookie preferences from their account settings page. Look for the "Cookie Preferences" option under the Privacy & Data section.

Via Your Browser

You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View and delete stored cookies
  • Block third-party cookies
  • Block all cookies (note: this may break site functionality)
  • Enable "Do Not Track" signals

Browser-specific guides: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal (e.g., Brave, Firefox with GPC extension), we will honor it by defaulting to the most privacy-friendly settings and treating you as having opted out of data sharing under CCPA.

Third-Party Cookies

The only third-party cookies we currently set are from Google Analytics 4 (listed above). These cookies are governed by Google's own privacy policy and terms of service. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking via:

Withdrawing Consent

You can withdraw your consent for analytics and marketing cookies at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal. To withdraw:

  • Click the cookie icon in our footer to reopen the preference center
  • Toggle off the "Analytics" category and save
  • Contact us at privacy@mail.crucible.fans for a full consent withdrawal

Upon withdrawal, analytics cookies will be deleted on your next page load (or you can clear them manually via browser settings).

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we introduce new cookies, change our tracking practices, or when regulations evolve. Material changes will be communicated via the cookie banner on your next visit. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
